What to see and do
We offer a relaxing bird safari with a gourmet brunch served on our beautiful hilltop estate near Mikumi National Park. You can lounge in our airy view lounge. You can walk around our estate (it's safe!). And we serve delicious food in four courses.
You enjoy a 360 view over hills, plains, mountains and two national parks. You will definitely see eagles and many other beautiful birds - see the gallery on the home page.
Other frequent guests are chameleons, agama lizards, dik-dik gazelle, rabbits, large ground-hornbills and even the odd impala sometimes.
Masai drive their cows and goats past here every day with the beautiful mountains in the background.
Don't miss out! It's awesome!
Private excursion
Our bird safari already feels pretty private with a maximum of just 10 people a day. But if you want us all to yourself, we charge 50 EUR per person with a minimum of 300 EUR. We are happy to tailor the excursion if you have any special wishes about schedule, food or activities. Some items may be charged extra in consultation. If you reserve a few days in advance, we can cater for a maximum of 20 people.
Is it safe to walk around your estate?
Yes, it is safe. We are not inside the national park. So you don't pay park fees and the big animals don't come here. You can safely walk around here. You will see as many as 50 species of birds here. Eagle sightings are guaranteed, usually more and closer than in the national park.
What time does it start?
At your convenience! Most people come just after sunrise to not miss any bird action, between 6.30 and 7.00 a.m. But even if you come later, there is plenty to see! We recommend arriving before 9 a.m. Most leave between 12 and 1 p.m., but you are welcome to stay longer. Afternoon visits are also possible.
To ensure we can prepare delicious food, please reserve at least one day in advance.
Where is Eagle View?
Mikumi village is a 5-minute drive from us on a dirt road. The gate of Mikumi National Park is just 18 minutes away. Our location is in Google Maps. The elevation is about 600m above sea level.
We are happy to pick up from any hotel in Mikumi, and take you back after (included in the price). If necessary, we can make arrangements for pick-up from other places such as Morogoro, Iringa or Dar es Salaam at an extra fee.
What should I wear / bring?
Always bring your camera and binoculars if you have them! We have some extra binoculars available too.
Recommendation: wear comfortable linen or cotton clothes. Wear long trousers in view of itchy grass seeds and insects, with sneakers or hiking shoes. You can go barefoot in our lounge! Flipflops are fine if you don't walk around much.
Seasons and temperature
Cold season
May through August is the very best time for bird spotting! It can get chilly in early morning (it’s down to 12 degrees Celsius around sunrise sometimes). So wear one or two cosy layers extra in the morning that you can peel off as the temperature goes up after 10 a.m. We have extra blankets just in case you get cold. Still, even in the cold season (June-July is coldest) it’s easily a lovely 26 degrees in the midday sun, with bright, clear days.
Hot season
Mid October through January is the hot season here, with December the hottest month. Around 9 a.m. it is often 28 Celsius already and it can go up to 35 Celsius later in the day. Fortunately we almost always have a breeze here. Bring a light vest just in case. A short shower can happen in any month here. Don't worry about rain, our panorama lounge is cosy and dry.
Rain season
Mid February through early May is the Long Rains. We are closed in the rain season.
